980-020 is fully synthetic alternative to oil and pigmented paste lubricants for demanding mandrel tube bending and forming applications.

980-020 provides a micro-layer of lubricating film on metal surfaces, during demanding tube bending applications. This chemical nature and thick viscosity of 980-020 translates to the product “staying put”, resulting in less lubricant dripping off of machinery and less “weeping” of lubricant onto floors. These characteristics allow for these products to be applied in lower volume – reducing lubricant consumption and lowering process costs.

980-020 is the ideal lubricant for small tubes and pipes. It is used extensively in the manufacture of engine/cooling components particularly aluminium tubes.

When applied automatically through the mandrel using the EKO 2 mandrel lubrication system, multi-bend aluminium tubes can be bent using less than 2 grams per pipe.

This product is suitable for heavy to heaviest punching & forming work of steel, high-strength steels, stainless steel, titanium, aluminium and non-ferrous metals. A total of seven products have been combined with this range.
Both IRMCO® product ranges set a new cost-effective standard that can cover more than 80 percent of non-cutting metal processing.

High Lubrication and Best Wear Protection

IRMCO® water-based pipe bending lubricants are used worldwide for emission and exhaust systems in the automotive industry, aviation industry, pharmaceutical industry, chemical industry, liquid & gas transport and many other pipe bending applications. Customers appreciate the high lubrication and wear protection, both of which keep the cost per piece low. The clean-running lubricants are free of chlorine, silicon, teflon, solvent, oil, and aromatics and are not only environmentally friendly but also safe for people who come into contact with them. The lubrication can easily be washed off with warm water or aqueous-alkaline cleaners, making them also suitable for cathodic dip painting (KTL) processes. The water-based IRMCO® pipe bending lubricants are applied very sparingly using a pneumatic piston pump, a DS-6 mandrel lubrication system, or a brush. IRMCO® and LBI oil free have developed special application devices to optimize the supply of IRMCO® products through the bending mandrel. IRMCO® Water-Based Pipe Bending Lubricants Overview

When choosing the best IRMCO pipe bending lubricant for your operation, the material of the pipe (steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminized steel, etc.) and the material of the mandrel tools and wipers (aluminum bronze, polished chromed steels, etc.) should be considered. The method of application (brush, pump, or spray) also plays an important role in the processing process. One option is the use of a liquid gel for spray applications. The water-based IRMCO tube bending lubricants minimise tool wear and keep the component and tool cool. In most cases, the workpieces are dry after machining and can be processed immediately. Over-welding is also possible immediately without causing welding porosity or excessive, burnt-in residues. The low lubricant consumption and a formula that relies on regenerative raw materials are an advantage.
